Several of y’all have asked me when I was going to do a blackout poetry workshop, and I am happy to announce one is happening this month!
Creative Heart Expressions in Jasper is a new art studio, and the owner Tiffany is such a sweet and encouraging woman who has graciously offered us her space for this class.
So here’s your chance to join me on May 30th for my blackout poetry workshop!
We will enjoy charcuterie and drinks (non-alcoholic) before we dive into the fun! After going over the basics of blackout poetry--history, supplies, technique, and examples-- we will start searching for the poems hiding in plain sight. There will be plenty of opportunity to search old magazine articles and books, deciding what pops out at you! When we wrap up between 8 and 8:30, I will send you home with supplies to make more blackout poems on your own.
Hors d'oeuvres start at 6:30 and poetry starts at 7!
The workshop is $35 and you can save your spot here. By deconstructing another person's words, we can make something new.
Space is limited, so don’t wait too long to sign up! See y’all on the 30th!
Love,
Tristan
P.S. Here’s a blackout I found a while back. I found it inspirational :)
